Greetings Colleagues,

I trust you're well.  Today I'm celebrating journalist William Lloyd Garrison, who in 1831 founded the abolitionist newspaper The Liberator. Garrison was a crusader who advocated the immediate emancipation of all slaves and gained a national reputation for being one of the most radical of American abolitionists.

Description

This webinar will report on the planning, development and evaluation of the sub-grant awarded to Shaw University by the HBCU Library Alliance in collaboration with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant. Copyright, intellectual property rights and planning research were primary themes of the project.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to identify strategies to assist faculty with issues related to copyright and intellectual property.

Instructors
Musette McKelvey is the Director of the Curriculum Materials Center (CMC), which is the library that supports the Department of Education, at Shaw University.  The CMC has books and other materials needed for teacher education on the undergraduate level as well as the graduate program.  Musette also works with the Early Childhood Development program at Shaw University supplying materials for the children in that program.  Formerly the Interim Library Director at Shaw, Ms. Musette is a champion of grant-writing efforts to enhance services in academic libraries.

Jahala Simuel is Reference Librarian/Adjunct Professor for the James E. Cheek Library, having served in this capacity at Shaw University for eleven years.
