Trenholm State Culinary Student and Army Veteran
Sam Munnerlyn, president of Trenholm State Community College and Burton U. Ward, president of the Central Alabama Community Foundation are pleased to announce that Stacey J. Herbert will receive the Allen Pompey Culinary Arts Scholarship.  The Allen Pompey Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 to assist veterans of the United States armed services with their educational goals.  It is the wish of the donor that the scholarship help any veteran who wishes to attend a technical or community college.  Herbert, a native of Prattville and a decorated Iraq war veteran is enrolled in the culinary arts program with a 3.308 grade point average.  The scholarship will be presented at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29th at Harper's.  Harper's is the College's cooking lab where culinary students receive hands-on skills in cooking, baking, food safety and preparation, table service, and hospitality.  Harper's is located in downtown Montgomery at 8 Commerce Street, Suite 200.  It is open for public dining on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The culinary arts and hospitality program at Trenholm State is the largest in the State of Alabama.  The program is nationally accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFFAC).  Students enrolling in the program have the option of obtaining a Certificate, an Associate in Applied Technology degree in Culinary Arts, or an Associate in Applied Technology degree with an emphasis in Hospitality Management.  For more information about the culinary arts program visit our website at trenholmstate.edu or contact Chef Robert Cawley at by calling (334) 420-4496
