New Registrar and Dean of University Libraries Appointed
Delaware State University President Harry L. Williams has recently made the following new appointments - Dr. Rebecca E. Batson as the new dean of University Libraries and Terrell D. Holmes as the new University Registrar.
In assuming the post of Dean of University Libraries, Dr. Rebecca Batson bring almost three decades of experience and service at DSU's William Jason Library. During those years, Dr.
Batson has served as the interim dean of University Libraries on three different times, most recently from the summer 2009 to present.
Dr. Batson, a native of Seaford, Del., has a Bachelor of Science in Library Science/History from Virginia State University, a Master of Library Science from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Arts in Education from DSU, and a Doctor of Ministry from the Friends International Christian University.
"My goal is to continue to develop the library's virtual presence to enhance student engagement and keep pace with the rapidly expanding virtual world," Dr. Batson said. "I believe libraries must continue to uphold professional standards and commitment to service, and I am thankful to be surrounded by an excellent professional University Libraries staff that is committed to those ideals."
Terrell D. Holmes has been with the DSU Office of the Registrar since 2005, serving as associate registrar, Banner functional lead, as well as the interim registrar since December 2008.
Mr. Holmes has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Summa Cum Laude) from Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C., and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He is a native of Laurel, Delaware where he graduated from Jesus is Lord Christian Academy.
"I embrace the challenges and responsibilities of the Registrar position at DSU," Mr. Holmes said. "Serving in the interim for the past 18 months has helped me to establish the framework to take on these same challenges and responsibilities.  I look forward to continued success in this position as we follow the lead of our new president."
