One Book, One University: Library Introduces Presidential Program

Beginning this month, the Prezell R. Robinson Library, in conjunction with President's Office, will begin its "One Book, One University: Presidential Reading Program at Saint Augustine's University." The purpose of this initiative is to create a community of readers among our freshman students and to foster their relationship with President Dianne Boardley Suber by experiencing a hosted book reading/discussion in the Library.
Dr. Suber has selected "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks as the inaugural book for the program. The novel was published in 1996 to much acclaim and was recently made into a successful movie starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel MacAdams. The story follows the tragic romance of Noah and Allie, a couple in post-World War II-era America.
Copies of The Notebook are available for each freshman student and have been distributed to First Year Experience classes. Freshmen will be instructed to read common parts of the book as part of their First Year Experience classes and to attend the reading/discussion with Dr. Suber. This discussion is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Prezell R. Robinson Library.
