President Boyd to Appear on Nationally Syndicated Talk Show, 'Steve Harvey!'
Author: Lois G. Russell

President Gwendolyn E. Boyd will be featured on the nationally syndicated talk-variety show, "Steve Harvey!"

Harvey invited Boyd and Miles College president, Dr. George T. French, to appear on his popular television show to highlight the Turkey Day Classic. Boyd took time from her busy Magic City Classic schedule to fly to Chicago for the taping of the show.
The Homecoming game returns to Thanksgiving Day this year (Nov. 24), with the ASU Hornets facing the Golden Bears of Miles College for the second straight year.

"We are very appreciative to Steve Harvey for giving a national platform to the Turkey Day Classic," said Boyd. "Mr. Harvey has shown his respect for the work and the traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in many ways, including showcasing the nation's oldest black college football classic. It's an opportunity to expose this great experience to a new and national audience."

Harvey announced earlier this year that he would sponsor the Turkey Day Classic in conjunction with HarCal, Inc., the global investment company he owns jointly with Montgomery, Ala., entrepreneur, Greg Calhoun. The schedule of events for the weeklong celebration includes a gospel concert with Byron Cage, Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin; an R&B concert with Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and singer Kem; a comedy show; and a "Bobby-cue" contest. Harvey will also broadcast the "Steve Harvey Morning Show" live from The ASU Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Harvey already has promoted the Turkey Day Classic events on his radio show and said that he is "bringing Hollywood to Montgomery."

The "Steve Harvey" episode featuring President Boyd is scheduled to air in mid-November. Check your local listings for channels and times in your area.
