Dear HBCU Library Alliance Members,

We are excited to invite you to a special session dedicated to preserving the legacy of HBCU radio on July 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.

Nearly a third of the 104 HBCUs have radio stations, many broadcasting for over fifty years. This session will cover initiatives to honor and preserve these cultural resources and address the risks faced by both analog and digital materials.

Key topics include:

An overview of upcoming initiatives and training opportunities
*
Elizabeth City University (North Carolina): A case study
*
Utilizing mini-grants for memberships, services, and materials

Additionally, learn how to use grant opportunities to build strategic alliances across campuses, even without an active radio presence. The session will conclude with an invitation to the North Carolina project hub symposium in November 2024.

Speakers:

Jocelyn Robinson, Director of Radio Preservation & Archives at WYSO
*
Phyllis Jeffers-Coly, Assistant Director, HBCU Radio Preservation Project
