Bethune-Cookman University News May 1, 2019 Alumnus Tyron Cooper nominated for two Emmy Awards Congratulations to alumnus Tyron Cooper, who has been recently nominated for two Emmy Awards. They are in the category of "Musical Composition/Arrangement" for two different PBS documentary films, "Eva: A-7063" and "The Music Makers of Gennett Records." This makes a total of eight Emmy nominations and three Emmy wins. Dr. Cooper is currently an assistant professor in the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana University-Bloomington (IUB). In fall 2017, Cooper was appointed as the director of Indiana University's Archives of African American Music and Culture. He holds a B.A. degree in music education from Bethune-Cookman University as well as a M.A. in jazz studies and Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Indiana University.
