Alumnus Tyron Cooper nominated for two Emmy Awards

Congratulations to alumnus Tyron Cooper, who has been recently nominated for two Emmy Awards. They are in the category of "Musical Composition/Arrangement" for two different PBS documentary films, "Eva: A-7063" and "The Music Makers of Gennett Records." This makes a total of eight Emmy nominations and three Emmy wins. Dr. Cooper is currently an assistant professor in the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana University-Bloomington (IUB). In fall 2017, Cooper was appointed as the director of Indiana University's Archives of African American Music and Culture. He holds a B.A. degree in music education from Bethune-Cookman University as well as a M.A. in jazz studies and Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Indiana University.
