RE: Print Management

Hello Jerome,

Savannah State University (like all Georgia University System institutions) charge students a technology fee.  SSU's fee is $35.00.  At the start of each semester, students receive a $10 print credit subsidized by the student technology fee.  This is equivalent to 100 black-and-white printed pages.  This is for  all computer labs but not the library.

In the library to copy from computers, copiers, etc. in the library, students must  purchase a copy card.  Blank cards cost $1.00; a minimum of $1.00 must be added to cards in order to print from the library's computers or to make copies.  All black and white copies and prints are 10¢ per page. Color printing is also available; color prints are 25¢ per page.  The offer scan free of charge.

We decided to opt out from the SSU printing system because it was difficult to get funds from the technology fee to replace paper, toner, repairs, etc.  We use the money from the cards to take care of paper, toner, repairs.  We get funding from the technology fee to replace equipment and pay for databases.

Colleagues;

I know I've asked this question before and somehow I lost my data, but wanted to know the following:

  1. Does your campus charge students to print? If so, what is the costs per page to print.

  2. Can students print for free? If so, are there any limitations, print allotments? Where can they print for free?

I look forward to your response, and this time, I promise, to save and share the data.
