Free Live Webinar:  An Introduction to Emergency Planning - Friday, December 2nd, 2016, 2:00 - 3:00 ET
Description:  This presentation will provide an overview of emergency and disaster planning, including an introduction to the emergency management cycle and risk assessment, the elements of a successful disaster plan, and other resources for libraries and archives to turn to during the planning process. This presentation will also explore the benefits of networking with neighboring institutions to better use available funding and resources, and the importance of establishing relationships before a disaster strikes.
Take-Aways: After this training, webinar participants will have insight into

  1.   The importance of emergency planning,
    
  2.   The process of emergency planning in their institutions; and
    
  3.   Available funding and resources for emergency planning.
    

Suggested Attendees: Librarians, archivists, administrative, maintenance, and facilities staff members.
Instructor: As Preservation Specialist at the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), Samantha Forsko works with institutions and their collections. She conducts on-site preservation needs and risk assessments and assists with preservation and emergency planning. She also develops and presents educational programs and provides technical information to libraries, archives, museums, historic sites, and other cultural institutions. Before joining CCAHA, Samantha worked at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as a collections manager. She has also worked as a conservation technician for the Regional Arts and Culture Council and Cascadia Art Conservation Center, both in Portland, Oregon. Samantha received her MA in Arts Management with a focus on Archival and Museum Studies from Claremont Graduate University, in Claremont, California.
