Cheyney University News February 17, 2012 ELC Program on February 28 Covers "The Impact of Entrepreneurship on African American Economic Development & Wealth Creation: Historical View, Black Hair Care Industry." The Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at Cheyney University is hosting the Spring ELC Series at the Marcus Foster Student Center on campus from 6 to 8 pm and are open to the public. The series offers information from the experts on how to develop a successful business. On Tuesday, February 28 - Earl Boyd & Ivey Ibrahin will discuss"The Impact of Entrepreneurship on African American Economic Development & Wealth Creation: Historical View, Black Hair Care Industry." Earl Boyd and Ivey Ibrahim are natives of Macon, Georgia and graduates of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where they both earned B.A. degrees in management. After brief careers at IBM and AT&T respectively, in 1980 they founded Boyd-Ivey and Associates (later named Boyd-Ivey Marketing), a marketing and manufacturers' representative firm serving the black health and beauty aids industry. Known for its innovation and creativity, the company provided marketing, sales and distribution services to manufacturers during the industry's "boom" years. Currently, Boyd and Ibrahim co-own Fresh Look Products, a personal care brand marketed primarily via e-commerce. Mr. Boyd currently serves as Director of Entrepreneur Services for Entrepreneur Works in Philadelphia, PA. The organization provides services to small business owners/entrepreneurs in the form of loans, workshops, business consulting and networking. He also conducts entrepreneurship and business development consulting services and provides marketing and strategic planning services for small businesses and non-profit organizations. Mr. Ibrahim owns Impact Marketing and Sales which provides marketing consulting services, sales training and business skills development. He is active in community service in Wilmington Delaware, serving as Acting President and Vice President of the First District Neighborhood Planning Council and is the founding Board President (1999-2004) of the Police Athletic League of Wilmington, DE.
