CCC to host Veteran's Day celebration Nov. 11

Coahoma Community College will celebrate local veterans during a special Veteran's Day program Friday, Nov. 11.
Hosted at 10 a.m. in the Pinnacle, the event will honor military veterans and those who are active duty. CCC students, faculty, staff, as well as community members, are invited to attend.

"We at Coahoma Community College are honored to host our 2016 Veteran's Day program, where we can give thanks and show our appreciation for those who have served our country," said CCC Director of Enrollment and Student Services Karen Done.

The event will include posting of the colors, patriotic music and special tributes to each military branch.

Master Sergeant Jason Riley of Eudora, Miss. will serve as the guest speaker.

Riley has served 21 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard, including a deployment to Iraq in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He has received numerous awards during his military tenure, and currently serves as a Recruiting Non-commissioned Officer in Charge.

In addition, all veterans present at the event will be recognized and honored with a special token of appreciation for their service to our country.

"Our heroes are those who have risked their lives to serve and protect our country-those who have worked to make this world a better place," said Done. "We would like to show our appreciation for the sacrifices you have made for us and invite you to join us on Veterans Day."
