Career Aspects Are Bright at NCCU Research Institute

The Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE)http://brite.nccu.edu/ was established at North Carolina Central Universityhttp://www.nccu.edu/ in 2006 to connect education with real-world practice. BRITE's industry-inspired facilities provide students with the most comprehensive training possible for careers in the biotech field.

Throughout their education, BRITE students receive hands-on experience that prepares them to make an immediate impact in healthcare, food production, environmental cleanup and much more. BRITE offers students industry-modeled labs and curriculum devised by highly credentialed faculty and biotechnology experts, including representatives from Biogen Idec, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Bayer Corp. and Novozymes.

Students become engaged in research experiences and receive career counseling designed to create leaders in the next wave of amazing biotech discoveries.

The most recent placement data for BRITE shows that the program is highly successful. Between 2008 and 2014, 90 percent of BRITE students who earned a pharmaceutical sciences bachelor's degree were employed within six months. The placement rate for master's degree graduates was even higher - 91 percent.
