KSU’s Summer Apprenticeship Program teaches STEM fields to high school students

Kentucky State University’s 2016 Summer Apprenticeship Program (SAP) began this week and will continue through June 25.

The program, which is in its second year is supported by externally-funded NSF and USDA grants and aims to introduce rising high school students to STEM fields as well as agricultural, environmental and geo-spatial related disciplines.

Thirty students from across the state and surrounding areas were recruited to participate in the three-week program where they will be introduced to the basics of college prep courses in math, chemistry, physics and biology. Students will also participate in research projects where they will be mentored by KSU faculty members and research scientists.
