DSU Rotaract and ECHS Interact Club members Inducted
Multiple Rotary clubs from Delaware and Maryland District 7630 joined Rotary District Gov. Richard Graves of Centreville, Md. Rotary Club, DSU officials, and Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen to welcome the induction of more than 50 members and officers of Rotaract and Interact clubs at Delaware State University and its Early College High School on March 16.
The DSU Rotaract and ECHS Interact groups will pursue separate community service and leadership activities that will benefit the members and the public.
Interact derives its name created by Rotary International, from the words "international" and "action," reflecting the nature of an organization that exists in 177 countries and promotes active service at more than 8,600 clubs worldwide. Interact provides a powerful force of youthful enthusiasm and energetic service, where students interact with various levels of society, including schools, community, state, nation, and globally to assist others in need.
Rotaract is a club for adults ages 18-30 that meets twice a month to exchange ideas, plan activities and projects, and socialize. While Rotary clubs serve as sponsors, Rotaract clubs decide how to organize and run their club and what projects and activities to carry out. Rotaract helps members with leadership skills, career development, community and international service and the development of good friends and good fun.
"Rotaractors and Interactors are true 'partners in service' and key members of the Rotary family, who work hand in hand with Rotarians," said Ted Henderson, president of Dover Capital City Rotary.
Rotary, founded in 1905 in Chicago, Illinois, has over 1.2 million members across the world who plan and carry out humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs in the local and world community.
