Howard University encourages students to "ASK ME"

WASHINGTON (August 4, 2010) - The ASK ME Campaign kicks off during the first few weeks of Fall and Spring semesters to welcome first year, transfer, and returning students to campus. The Fall Campaign runs from Aug. 12 - 21. The ASK Me booths will be manned by volunteers who will provide students with information regarding the University, including general directions as well as more specific information. Also, the Campaign is designed to provide new Bison and their parents with a welcoming atmosphere during orientation and the first week of classes.

The ASK ME booths will be positioned at outside designated locations such as the School of Social Work, The Quad, Armour J. Blackburn Center, Drew Hall, The Towers, School of Communications, and the Carver Building.

The entire Campaign is designed to do four things:

  • Provide an atmosphere that enriches the campus experience, which leads to greater first year retention

  • Create a friendlier and engaging campus environment for first-time and transfer students

  • Provide assistance that helps to lessen the anxiety of the first week of classes

  • Encourage greater participation by the faculty and staff in Student Affairs
