Morgan Scholar Gives Ivy League M.B.A. Program a Trial Run

This summer, as many Morgan scholars are engaged in interesting internships or recharging their mental batteries while eagerly anticipating the start of the fall semester, others are using the time to further their education in other ways. One such student is Evan Robertsonhttps://news.morgan.edu/meet-morgans-moguls-in-the-making/, a finance major from the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Managementhttps://www.morgan.edu/sbm. Robertson followed-up the conclusion of a challenging spring semester by traveling to Boston, Massachusetts, to participate in the Harvard Business School's 37th Annual Summer Venture in Management Programhttps://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.hbs.edu_svmp_Pages_default.aspx&d=DwMFaQ&c=0CCt47_3RbNABITTvFzZbA&r=rmrjOrTQo637jQzsGqFEr1OkGEI6RoVmoYtjJDIC8gc&m=mM9MSAqVwSK_XJoj5oPEwwLmzd2Cs4xX5lBL5k_Th0g&s=-zac4O4WKDmS1fxduVPOwoO1NFthU4M6ftzxmSimRTc&e=.

The one-week residential education program invites rising college seniors to Harvard's campus to participate in a unique Harvard Business Schoolhttps://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.hbs.edu_Pages_default.aspx&d=DwMFaQ&c=0CCt47_3RbNABITTvFzZbA&r=rmrjOrTQo637jQzsGqFEr1OkGEI6RoVmoYtjJDIC8gc&m=mM9MSAqVwSK_XJoj5oPEwwLmzd2Cs4xX5lBL5k_Th0g&s=hU4ilOZBttLr0VsSWYvn2zrbCGH4kO4kN1yniM1U_Q4&e= M.B.A. student experience. The select group of participants, who come from diverse backgrounds, are exposed to an exclusive business education designed to develop a broader understanding of the challenges business leaders face, the many dimensions of the business world, and the impact the participants can have on their community and the world through business leadership.

Robertson made the most of his brief time as a Harvard M.B.A. student, using the experience to network with other change agents and interface with world-renowned professors. He was also able to examine real business cases, using study groups and classes to assess and debate ideas through lively interaction with peers and faculty. And when he wasn't poring over business cases, he was touring the city of Boston, taking in the sites and scenery.

"The experience exposed me to a professional network that I would have not gotten anywhere else," said Robertson. "I feel more prepared than ever to solve business problems that will inevitably arise as I advance in my career. It meant the world to me to not only represent the Graves School of Business (and Management) but to also represent Morgan State!"

With the summer program completed, Robertson is in the process of studying for his GMAT exams, so that he may further his recent experience by applying to the Harvard Business School 2+2 Programhttps://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.hbs.edu_mba_admissions_application-2Dprocess_Pages_student-2Dapplicants.aspx&d=DwMFaQ&c=0CCt47_3RbNABITTvFzZbA&r=rmrjOrTQo637jQzsGqFEr1OkGEI6RoVmoYtjJDIC8gc&m=mM9MSAqVwSK_XJoj5oPEwwLmzd2Cs4xX5lBL5k_Th0g&s=EVtM02NfxRGAEFgH31mpYMKZqfzERG-6HdQn33GFGkQ&e= in Spring 2020.

Congrats to Evan Robertson as we encourage continued support from the Morgan community.
