JOB Title: Associate Director, Library and Digital Services

The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library supports the teaching and learning missions of four institutions of higher learning that comprise the world's largest consortium of HBCUs-Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.  Conveniently located and easily accessible to the campuses, the Woodruff Library is the center of the intellectual and social life at the Atlanta University Center.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library is committed to displaying excellence in our delivery of service.  To continue our excellence in program and services, the library seeks a collaborative, innovative, and technology-focused leader to provide vision, leadership, and direction for the library's technical and digital services.  Serving as a member of the organization's management team, the Associate Director will have a pivotal role in shaping major programs, executing strategic initiatives, and furthering the library's digital strategies and technology platforms.  The incumbent lends oversight and provides strategic guidance to the Archives Research Center department, Collection and Content Management department, and the Discovery and Access Services department.  Reporting to the CEO and Library Director, this position serves as a member of the Director's management group, the library's faculty advisory council, and the Scholarly Communications working group.  The Associate Director works closely with faculty of the member institutions and may serve as a liaison for selected activities of the library's Board of Trustees.  The incumbent is engaged professionally and has experience or an interest in non-profit governance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
?      Provides strategic direction for the development of the Library's digital and technology initiatives, including coordination and prioritization of system-wide efforts to provide digital services and resources.
?      Management of the institutional repository, and collaborations to implement technological/digital initiatives within the library and across Atlanta University Center campuses.
?      Participates in strategic planning, development of new initiatives, grant-writing and management, resource and policy development, and governance.
?      Assists the CEO/Library Director in the formulation and review of policy, budgeting, and planning; Including the development of user policies and procedures, for the effective allocation and management of library acquisitions and negotiation of license agreements. Includes management of digital services and electronic resources for internal and external users.
?      Provides oversight to departments regarding preservation, access and teaching and learning strategies
?      Supervise and evaluate department heads.
?      In conjunction with relevant library departments, builds and sustains partnerships with Atlanta University Center member institutions and external organizations to increase the visibility and use of the library.
?      Manages library participation in delivery of accreditation requirements for the library's member institutions.
?      Conducts planning and implements library-wide technology solutions in support of all library operations in conjunction with the Office of Computing and Information Technology.
?      Contract review for technical and digital services
?      Coordination and maintenance of website
?      Represents the library in consortia memberships
?      Public speaking on behalf of library and in the absence of the library director

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
?      ALA-accredited master's degree in Library and Information Science
?      Five or more years in technical services
?      Three or more years in digital services to include preservation and work with institutional repositories
?      Proven record of leadership and an ability to persuade, engage, and articulate messaging to a wide variety of audiences.
?      Experience managing library services with evidence of progressively increasing scope of responsibility
?      Ability to set priorities, adapt and drive change initiatives, and to use collaborative and inclusive leadership skills
?      Knowledge of current and emerging trends in higher education and libraries in the areas of technical, public, and digital services
?      Experience in the management of resources and budgets
?      Experience managing conflict with users
?      Experience in project management
?      Experience licensing scholarly content and negotiating with library vendors
?      Experience with grants writing and management
?      5 plus years of supervisory experience

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Salary commensurate with experience
