National Communication Honor Society Inducts Cheyney Students

On Thursday, October 10, the Omega Pi chapter of Lambda Pi Eta communication honor society was pleased to welcome Courtney Clarke, Terrell Grayson and Richona McKnight as its newest members at Cheyney University.

In an intimate ceremony in the Duckrey Social Sciences building student lounge, the three inductees spoke about the history of the society based on Aristotle's three elements of persuasion. Lambda represents logos, or the logic that should play a major role in every individual's deliberations and problem solving. Pi represents pathos, or the emotional appeal and the driving force that makes an organization vital and effective. Eta signifies ethos, or the character and ethics that are needed in one's life to affect change in society.

The ceremony was hosted by co-advisors Dr. Pamela Poe, Assistant Professor of Communication Arts, and Gwen Owens, Director of Public Relations. Randy Poe and Sue Edwards performed lovely musical selections throughout the ceremony. Ruth Brice, Director of the Cheyney Center for Career and Professional Development, gave the keynote address, advising the new inductees on how to pursue future endeavors and inspiring them to dream big.

The Omega Pi chapter will accept applications for Lambda Pi Eta membership in the spring. If you are a Communication Arts major with at least 12 credits in Communication Arts and a 3.0 grade point average, you can apply for induction into this national honorary organization.
