Jefferson City, MO- Lincoln University Associate Professor of Nursing Dr. Janet Long is this year's recipient of the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.  Presented by the Council on Public Higher Education (COPHE), the annual award recognizes faculty from each of the state's institutions.  Long and the other honorees were recognized during a luncheon for COPHE institutions, hosted by Governor Jay Nixon on Tuesday, April 7.

Long, a 21-year employee of Lincoln University has taught both introductory and advanced courses in both lecture and clinical settings. She is the only faculty member of the Department of Nursing and Allied Health to be identified by the National League of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Educator.  Long's colleagues and the administration agree she is deserving of this latest honor.

Lincoln University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Said Sewell, who submitted the final recommendation for the nomination, says Long's work made her a good candidate for the award.
