HOWARD UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH MOODY’S CORPORATION AND ALUMNI

The Howard University School of Business will host a 50th Anniversary Celebration and Alumni Reception on Sept. 18 at Moody’s Corporation’s headquarters located at 7 World Trade Center in New York City.  The event, sponsored by Moody’s Corporation, will feature remarks from Barron H. Harvey, dean of the School of Business, Howard University President Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick and Moody’s Corporation executives, and will include a School of Business alumni panel discussion.

“We are excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Business with one of our long-standing corporate partners, Moody’s Corporation,” says Dean Harvey. “In celebration of our golden anniversary, we believe it is critical to engage School of Business alumni who represent Howard’s diverse, enriching, and competitive business program. Howard alumni in the New York area are invited to join us for this celebration and find out what opportunities are available through our partnership with Moody’s Corporation.”

Moody’s executives will highlight the company’s ongoing commitment to partnering with Howard to provide opportunities for talented students to hone leadership skills and be better informed about opportunities in the global capital markets. School of Business alumna Arlene Isaacs-Lowe, Global Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for Moody’s Corporation and President of the Moody’s Foundation, is the Vice Chair of the Howard University Board of Visitors and a strong advocate for the partnership, and spearheaded Moody’s sponsorship of the alumni reception.

“At Moody’s we seek to help young people reach their potential and encourage them to learn more about careers in economics, technology and finance,” said Isaacs-Lowe. “Building a diverse pipeline of talent is an essential component of our long-term strategy, and we’re proud of our ongoing relationship with the School of Business and its vibrant, capable alumni.”

The Alumni Reception is one of a series of celebratory events the School of Business will host around the country in honor of its semicentennial anniversary, President Frederick commented:

“The 50th anniversary of the School of Business is a pivotal time for celebration and reflection,” says President Frederick. “We are grateful to Moody’s Corporation for their partnership, as connections like these allow us to create opportunities for students that make them more competitive in their professional careers. It’s extremely important that we come together and mark this major milestone in our alma mater’s history by reconnecting and recommitting to our Excellence in Truth and Service.”

The reception will feature testimonials from two Howard School of Business alumni and two students who are currently interns for Moody’s Corporation. One of the panelists, Melba Herrera (86’), received a bachelor of business administration in finance from the School of Business and works as an Assistant Director and Project Manager for Moody’s Analytics

“My time at Howard laid a strong foundation for future success in my career,” said Herrera. “The School of Business is a dynamic institution, and I’m proud to provide financial support and help celebrate 50 years of educating future leaders.”
