Students Present at North Carolina Science Museum

Twelve first-year master's students in NCCU's Department of Biological and Biomedical Scienceshttp://www.nccu.edu/academics/sc/artsandsciences/biology/ gave presentations in the Daily Planet Theater in the North Carolina Museum of Natural Scienceshttp://naturalsciences.org/ on April 21.

This experience allowed students to expand their science communication abilities with a broad audience. Students chose topics in which they were able to provide scientific data to support findings. The student participants and presentation titles are as follows:

Derek Burton - "The pregnant woman at the bar: A case of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder"
Tonelia Mowatt - "Ginger: An herbal approach to treat cancer"
Erika Baker - "Dirty mouth: Ethnicity-specific oral microbes"
Sora Choi - "Using herbs to treat a hangover"

Langston Harrison - "Change your brain by learning a language"
Ashley Adams -  "Making a new body: The next level of 3D printing"
Aquila Pinnix - "Fresh air never felt so good: The scientific evidence for outdoor exercise"
Lynet Akajo - "Gastric Cancer and Helicobacter pylori"

Chioma Azih - "Lassa fever: A public menace"
Anthonia Busuyi - "Green tea helps reduce chronic periodontitis"
Excel Swann - "Sticky gecko feet: Rules of adhesion"
Akeem McAllister - "Cervical cancer: Development of triage test"
