Fayetteville State University: First Academic Partner of The Global Special Operations Forces Foundation
The Global SOF Foundation has announced that Fayetteville State University (FSU) has joined the Foundation as its first academic partner. The Global SOF Foundation (GSF) is the only association for the special operations community with members from over 50 countries. GSF advocates for all aspects of Special Operations Forces development, employment, and sustainment in the fight to defeat globally networked threats. The GSF leads an international effort to increase understanding of Special Operations; advance SOF capabilities; and responsibly promote the role of Special Operations by strategically linking public and private sector initiatives.
Through this partnership with GSF, Fayetteville State University has an opportunity to contribute uniquely to America's safety and well-being with its Center for Defense and Homeland Security (CDHS). For more information about Fayetteville State University Center for Defense and Homeland Security click herehttp://www.uncfsu.edu/cdhs.
FSU Chancellor, Dr. James Anderson, states: "Heretofore such partnerships have been grounded at large research universities. FSU has stepped forward as an emerging university to fill this niche. We are now poised to shop our strengths in Cyber Security, Homeland Security, and Emergency Management to special operation members across 50 countries. We are very pleased to be a part of the Global SOF team."
The Global SOF Foundation is incorporated in the State of Florida. Its mission is to:

  • Convene a diverse set of stakeholders interested in the future of global SOF and security through unique networking opportunities and strategic, thought-provoking forums as well distributed media
  • Educate global policymakers in order to ensure SOF maintain a comparative advantage and are resourced for success
  • Serve as the "go to" SOF organization outside of military and government, with a plan to establish a "think team" (as opposed to a think tank) in Washington, D.C. focused on the study of SOF and asymmetric warfare
  • Work to identify cutting-edge technologies; future concepts; and innovations in training and education in order to advance the current and future force, and support international SOF partners
  • Support SOF personnel as they transition to civilian employment through SOF for Lifehttp://www.sofforlife.org/
FSU is the second-oldest public institution in North Carolina. A member of the University of North Carolina System, FSU has more than 6,100 students and offers degrees in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
