Voorhees implements new health information center
On Tuesday, April 21, at 11 a.m., Voorhees College will have a ceremony to officially open its health information center, which was donated to the institution from the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg.

The health information center is a wall-mounted display designed to educate employees and students on pertinent health issues and provide details regarding available health promotional activities.

Voorhees College is the first private sector organization in Bamberg County that the Regional Medical Center has provided a health information center to.

"It is imperative that Voorhees College educates our students, faculty, and staff about health issues affecting our community," said President Cleveland L. Sellers, Jr.

"In Bamberg County, diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death, and the adult obesity rate in Bamberg County is higher than the obesity rate in South Carolina. In addition, the percentage of adults that are physically active in Bamberg County is only 25.1%."
