BSC Nursing Students Collaborate with PCH to Administer Flu Shots to 2000+ Area Residents During Princeton AutumnFest 2014
By Jim Nelson
Bluefield State College nursing students assisted Princeton Community Hospital in administering influenza injections, free of charge, to more than 2000 individuals during the 2014 Princeton AutumnFest celebration and during free clinic sessions at PCH. The community service initiative was a collaborative effort involving Princeton Community Hospital and the first-year students in BSC's Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program.
Sandra Wynn, Director of BSC's ADN Program observed that the effort benefited all parties involved. "Princeton Community Hospital is able to immunize more area residents through the work of our students, and the project allows our students to sharpen their communication and 'hands on' nursing skills in a 'real life' environment," Wynn observed. "Our strong ties to PCH and other community agencies are essential to the success of the BSC Associate of Science Nursing program."
