CLAFLIN PROFESSOR FEATURED IN NATIONAL STEM PUBLICATION

Claflin University chair and professor of biology, Dr. Gloria S. McCutcheon, is featured in the fall edition of Diversity in Action magazine, a national print and digital publication that highlights current issues and the accomplishments of professionals and students in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM).

McCutcheon's profile appears on page 42 in the Higher Education section. In the article, McCutcheon discusses how she enjoys serving as an advisor and role model for her students, being one of the nation's few Black entomologists, and serving as the principal investigator for Claflin's Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) project funded by the National Institutes of Health.

In May 2020, McCutcheon was the recipient of the 2019 S.C. Environmental Awareness Award from the S.C. General Assembly.
