TOUGALOO COLLEGE Seeks: Director of Library Services
Tougaloo College seeks an enthusiastic, technology-driven, innovative leader with a deep commitment to the liberal arts and undergraduate/graduate education for the position of Director of Library Services. Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the library director will provide strategic vision and leadership for the library's support of academic programs and student learning.
The Director of Library will provide vision, leadership, and advocacy for the college library; work collaboratively with academic support services to design and implement a learning commons; design information literacy programs to meet the needs of a multicultural and diverse faculty and student body; develop and manage library budgets and educational resources; provide strategic planning and assessment, as well as operational oversight of library staff, services, collections, and spaces; serve as a liaison to selected academic departments; participate in a full range of outreach services, including reference, instruction, and collection development; and, represent the library in the local, regional and national library communities, in addition to college committees.
Experience/Qualifications:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and minimum of five years of experience in progressively responsible supervisory position are required. Earned doctoral degree and familiarity with strategic planning, developing new initiatives, technology and budgeting are preferred.
