Paul Quinn College News October 7, 2010 Paul Quinn College President to Speak on Leadership in the 21st Century The Black Law Students Association and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society at Washington and Lee University School of Law will host Michael Sorrell on October 14, 2010 at 12 p.m. in Classroom C of Lewis Hall. Sorrell will make a presentation titled "Leadership in the 21st Century: The Road to a College Presidency." Sorrell became the 34th president of Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas in 2007. Having previously worked in sports management conflict resolution and strategic public affairs, corporate political and communications consulting, and as Special Assistant to the President's Initiative on Race, Sorrell's transition to academic administration may not have been foreseen. Sorrell explains that a chance meeting with the president of Spelman College is what solidified his dreams of one day leading a historically black college. His aggressive rejuvenation of the Paul Quinn campus includes the implementation of a mandatory dress code, the PepsiCo-partnered conversion of the school football field into a sustainable farm, as well as overhauling the school's administrative operations. Additionally, he has fostered a relationship with the student body that places him at the very core of campus life. His cell phone number is available to every student.
