Dr. Annie Payton Retires from FVSU

Fort Valley State University is bidding a fond farewell to its trailblazing, head librarian Dr. Annie Payton, who retires in late July.

Payton began working at FVSU in 2009. She helped FVSU's Henry A. Hunt Memorial Library change its focus from just adding new features based on satisfaction metrics into a need-based service. The departing librarian also helped digitize scholarly content and collections that include books, journals, articles and other resources.

"Dr. Payton laid the groundwork for this library to move forward into the digital age," said Frank Mahitab, assistant director of the library. "Now it's left to us to become connected with these new capabilities, and build a bridge to the future. Dr. Payton has had an impact on all of us. The work she leaves behind speaks for itself. Here's wishing Dr. Payton peace and best wishes in all her future endeavors."
