Greetings Colleagues,

Angel Pridgen, Director of Library Services, American Baptist College (TN), shares the following announcement:

The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture’s Robert Frederick Smith Center for the Digitization and Curation of African American History (NMAAHC-CDCAAH) is organizing a two-day Community Archiving workshop in Nashville, TN. Our collection for this workshop is American Baptist College’s Susie McClure Library Special Collections and Archives (SMLSC).

Community Archiving Workshops connect trained archivists with collection caretakers and community members to inventory and assess collections for partners in need of specialized assistance. Workshop participants will receive training and supervision as they partner with trained archivists from NMAAHC and the Nashville area. They will learn how to identify risk factors and make preservation recommendations for moving image and flat item collections while building relationships and connections with fellow attendees in the Nashville area. For more information on Community Archiving Workshops, visit: https://communityarchiving.org/.
