Subject: Call for Conference Presenters

Dear colleagues,

If you support original research or have performed research/assessment projects, please look at our Call For Presenters. There are modest travel stipends to offset costs for travel from HBCU Library Alliance libraries, and accepted presenters get first priority for these funds. If we get a large number of presenters seeking travel assistance, topics related to researcher (faculty or graduate) support take priority.

Call For Presenters:

A new conference, Empirical Librarians, will be held on Monday, the 9th of February, 2015 in Greensboro, NC at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. This one-day conference addresses both support for original researchers in academic libraries and research performed by librarians in all libraries. We hope that you will consider sharing a presentation, panel, lightning talk, or poster on how you have helped original researchers create their research works and/or how you have done research or assessment in your library. We also encourage students and new practitioners to propose posters or lightning talks summarizing best practices in research techniques and support, in practical terms to give peers a starting point for performing or supporting research.

If you are interested in more details please see our CFP at http://libpublishing.ncat.edu/ocs/index.php/emplib2015/2015/schedConf/cfp or direct questions to Nina Exner at ninae@ncat.edumailto:ninae@ncat.edu. Proposals will be accepted until January 7th, 2015. Please also email ninae@ncat.edumailto:ninae@ncat.edu to notify us that you are an HBCU librarian-presenter interested in travel funds.

To submit a proposal abstract, scroll to the bottom of the CFP and click the link that says STEP ONE OF THE SUBMISSION PROCESS in little text at the end of the page. Thank you for your interest!

*Note: This conference is made possible by funding received from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation through the HBCU Library Alliance's program initiative to expand library support for faculty research in HBCUs.
