On Thursday, March 28, 2019, Dr. Randy Nelson, Program Director of the Criminal Justice Administration Graduate program at B-CU, Dr. Kideste Yusef, Department Chair of Justice & Political Studies, and Dr. Felecia Dix-Richardson, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at FAMU, hosted the third annual HBCU Law Enforcement Career Symposium and Luncheon at Florida A&M University.

The event is a collaborative effort of Florida HBCUs to increase diversity in the law enforcement profession. More than 100 students and 17 agencies participated in the forum. Marshall Silvester Dawson of Florida Supreme Court delivered the keynote during the luncheon. A group of undergraduate and graduate level criminal justice students traveled to Tallahassee to participate in the event.

In spring 2018, B-CU hosted the symposium with 25 law enforcement agencies from across Florida and more than 300 B-CU students.

Over the past three years, more than $35,000 in revenue through law enforcement registrations, which provide opportunities for criminal justice students to attend national and state conferences, as well as local community forums aimed at increasing public safety and empowering the community.
