Collections Stewardship Succession Planning Initiative
Focus Group Invitation

Through a two-year project funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) and Lyrasis are gathering data to develop professional development resources to support succession planning for collections stewardship staff and volunteers. The project will culminate with educational programs presenting "best practice" strategies to prepare for staffing and volunteer transitions in the area of collections care, with a special focus on training which can help to position existing staff or volunteers for promotion from within.  You can learn more about the Collections Stewardship Succession Planning Initiative herehttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/ccaha.org/succession__;!!CUhgQOZqV7M!i-1f-Srsfxs_nj5OAXxn2ifN397wv5K2x_X9C2MvRjEfKKnmWxAw38jdyA8_IpCpWO2JdryrBhLCJJ8Tp5p9bJ4$.

CCAHA and Lyrasis have been convening sixty-minute listening sessions to learn about the nuances of succession planning strategies that have-and have not-achieved positive results. The sessions, structured as an informal conversation, or "focus groups," probe issues related to organizational structure, documentation, and other related procedures for retaining and transferring knowledge, training, and coaching for emerging leaders, considerations for organizational leadership, and other key considerations for succession planning. Sessions have been held throughout the country and with various groups in the museum, library, and archives sectors, as well as performing arts organizations.

We are currently seeking HBCU Library Alliance volunteers to participate in a virtual focus group that would take place this summer. To express interest in joining us for this session, please sign up using this form Collections Stewardship Succession Planning Focus Group - HBCU Library Alliancehttps://forms.office.com/r/VAYCq7Mtxu no later than Friday, June 30th. CCAHA staff will be in contact to coordinate scheduling and session logistics.

Reach out to Alanna Shaffer, Preservation Services Operations Manager, at ashaffer@ccaha.orgmailto:ashaffer@ccaha.org for more information.
