Hampton University News February 1, 2017 HU School of Science Receives Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Grant The Hampton University School of Science has received a $400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation's Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. The grant is designed to encourage STEM majors and professionals to become chemistry, mathematics and science teachers in high needs areas. HU professor Dr. Isi A Ero-Tolliver will serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the grant, Dr. Clair Berube, Dr. Francis Erebholo, Dr. Cindy Thomas-Charles, and Dr. Justin Wilson will serve as co-PIs on the grant. HU had received this grant from 2009 -2015. Dr. Carolyn Morgan served as the PI until her retirement in 2015. Ero-Tolliver and the School of Science reapplied for the grant in 2016 in order to diversify classrooms. "The HU School of Science and School of Education want to continue diversifying the teaching fields of science and mathematics across schools in America," said Ero-Tolliver. The program provides educational opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students and K-12 educators. This program supports institutions which may provide support to individuals at those institutions. This grant helps increase the amount of minorities in the teaching profession by aiding the students who want to become teachers with financial support. SANDRA M.
