Jacksonville Attorney Donates $2 Million to EWC
Edward Waters College received a $2 million dollar donation from Attorney Steve Pajcic and his wife Anne. Steve Pajcic practices as a personal injury attorney at the Law Firm of Pajcic and Pajcic. He said he made the significant donation because of the opportunities the College continues to provide to disadvantaged students.

"The challenge in American education today, indeed in American society today, is to reach out to include the less fortunate - those who are not guaranteed that college opportunity, but are just as deserving," said Pajcic.

The donation was announced to the Edward Waters College administrators, faculty, staff, students and local community during a press conference in the Milne Auditorium. At the event President Nathaniel Glover said the unrestricted gift will be used mostly for student scholarships with the remainder going to faculty enhancements and operational costs.

"I made a promise to the Board of Trustees when I was inducted President to bring up the College's enrollment to 1,000 students by 2015. This will help me do that," said President Nathaniel Glover.

The Pajcic's $2 million dollar donation is the largest amount ever given by an individual in the institution's 147-year history. Edward Waters College is the oldest historically Black College in Florida and the state's oldest private institution.

Steve and Anne's charitable contributions have focused on the education of disadvantaged children including giving $1 million to establish a college scholarship program at their former high school and an additional $1 million for teacher salary incentives at their once struggling elementary school. Steve has also given his time as an organizer and a coach of over 50 teams of disadvantaged youth.

In the Fall 2013 semester 859 students were enrolled at Edward Waters College with more than 98-percent of them receiving financial-aid. Many of these students are the first in their families to attend college. "Anne and I believe that EWC helps extend the American dream to all realms of our society," said Steve Pajcic. "No child in our rich American society should ever miss out on an education because of lack of money."
