Subject: Webinar: The Leadership Pipeline: Succession Planning - Thursday, October 27, 2:00 ET

Greetings Colleagues,
Today I'm celebrating actor Paul Roberson, who on Oct. 18, 1944, was awarded the Spingarn Medal from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for his achievements in the arts.

Roberson, the son of an escaped slave, was born in Princeton, New Jersey on April 9, 1898. He actively spoke out against racism and became deeply involved in the civil rights movement. Roberson went on to become one of the most prominent performers during the Harlem Renaissance.

Webinar: The Leadership Pipeline: Succession Planning - Thursday, October 27, 2:00 ET

Library leadership is entering a stage of transition as more and more library deans and directors become retirement eligible. If the U. S. Bureau of Labor 's prediction that the rate of growth for librarianship over the next six years will be slower than average proves to be true, the need to cultivate leadership talent from within our library organizations is vital.  Planning ahead for leadership succession is critical to ensuring that you have the best person in place when needed to move your library forward. This webinar will focus on the value and challenges of succession planning and identifying elements of a basic action plan.
Webinar Take-Aways
After this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between succession planning and succession management
  2. Describe the succession planning process, and
  3. Identify key elements of a succession plan.
