Confluence: Poetry and Song

The Humanities Division of Allen University showcased a major performance titled Confluence: Poetry and Song on Friday September 19, 2014. Close to sixty people attended the magnificent event that featured the reading of poetry written by Kevin Simmonds and poems set to music by Simmonds and sung by Soprano Veletta Brinson.

The evening ended with projected multidisciplinary pieces, excerpts from Haiti: After the Earthquake. Excerpts featured images by photojournalist Andre Lambert, poet Kwame Dawes, soprano Valetta Brinson and composer Kevin Simmonds. The audience gave a standing ovation asking for an encore. Kevin Simmonds and Veletta Brinson closed the evening with a rousing rendition of Summertime.
