4th Annual I-Develop Business Week Expo to Be Held April 10-13

The Student Advisory Board of Fisk University will host the 4th annual I-Develop Week, scheduled to begin Monday, April 10 - Thursday, April 13.

Four years after its inception, I-Develop Week has been lauded as a platform through with Fisk students can engage local, regional, and national business leaders through organized corporate events in order to facilitate professional development and networking.

"For the past three years, the Student Advisory Board has planned, organized, and carried out professional development and corporate exposure events for Fisk students. This year, we will welcome even more business leaders from Nashville and surrounding areas with hopes of establishing relationships between the business community and Fisk University," said Lamarr Nash, organizer of the 4th annual I-Develop Week.

The schedule for I-Develop Week is as follows:

Monday, April 10

Entrepreneurship Expo

6:00pm -8:00pm | Sub Shop of Spence Hall

The Entrepreneurship Expo will host 10-15 Nashville businesses from different industries. The expo will be an opportunity to network and introduce new and established local small businesses.

Tuesday, April 11

Seminar: Effective Business Communication

6:30pm - 8:30pm | Multipurpose Room of Spence Hall

Students will be coached on how to communicate properly in a corporate setting. This interactive seminar will allow students to practice their communication skills with their peers, while invited business leaders serve as coaches.

Wednesday, April 12

From Corporate to Classroom

8:00am-3:00pm | various locations

Professionals from different industries will visit pre-selected classrooms to share their stories, expertise, and interpretation of leadership. Each classroom visit will be 30 minutes and will include a Q-and-A session.

Fisk Shark Tank

Guest Speaker: Michael Brody-Waite, CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center

5:30pm - 7:30pm | Appleton Room of Jubilee Hall

Four contestants will host 10-15 minute presentations of their ideas to the judges. The event will have five judges who will evaluate the contestants' business, creativity, and presentation. After the scores have been tallied, the winner of the entrepreneurship contest will earn $1,000 to invest in their business.

I-Develop Annual Luncheon

Guest Speaker: Darrell Freeman, Executive Chairman of Zycron

11:00am-2:00pm | Appleton Room of Jubilee Hall

The Experience

6:30pm - 8:30pm | Dance Studio of New Livingstone Living Learning Center

The Experience will be a mixture of entertainment, interaction, and education that will allow students to learn about the experience economy from the world's first experience creators: artists and musicians. Students will enjoy musical performances and visualization created by Michelle Ewin, Eric Holt of Love Noise, the Norf Group (Visual Artist), and Kia Lacey.
