Journal of Research Initiatives to launch November 2013

Dean Leontye Lewis and the School of Education announce the launching of the Journal of Research Initiatives (JRI - ISSN: 2168-9083). The open access journal became available at http://fsuoj01a.uncfsu.edu/ in early March 2013, and the editorial team began accepting submissions in April 2013. The first issue is scheduled for publication November 1, 2013.

The JRI will make its public debut at a special reception held by the School of Education on Monday, November 18, 2013. You are invited to join us to celebrate the launch of the Journal of Research Initiatives in the Lyons Science Annex-120 from 5-7pm. Refreshments will be served in the LSA-Lobby. The celebration will kick-off the week-long activities in observation of American Education Week.

The JRI is a peer-reviewed journal, publishing research articles that address current issues in education. The journal publishes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method research articles, as well as best practice papers, book reviews, and commentaries. JRI publishes across all relevant fields of K-12 and higher education research, including but not restricted to: (a) educational leadership, (b) emerging issues in leadership, (c) curriculum studies, (d) special education, (e) gender issues in education, etc.

JRI is led by editor-in-chief, Dr. Linda Wilson-Jones, editor, Dr. Gail Thompson, and twenty-five dedicated editorial review board members from educational institutions at the state, national, and international levels. The editorial team, from the School of Education is proud to launch this new journal that will further accelerate progress in the field of education. By highlighting our long-standing commitment to educational research, JRI will serve as a link between making data-driven decisions and everyday teaching and learning.

As an open access journal, JRI is licensed through CreativeCommons and its publications are available in DigitalCommons. All published articles will be freely accessible to a global audience immediately upon publication.

The Journal of Research Initiatives is the first peer-reviewed journal published by The Office of Research Initiatives and the School of Education at Fayetteville State University. breakout sessions and a Panel Discussion.
