Deltas make donation to fund scholarships
A $10,000 check was presented to Jackson State University during the Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.'s  recent Founders Day luncheon. Sorority member Stephanie Nellons-Paige, Interim First Lady of Jackson State University, accepted the check on behalf of JSU.
"Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization of college educated women committed to constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.  As such, it is important to all Deltas in the state of Mississippi to recognize, support and encourage scholarship and service.  That is why we donate these funds toward individual $1,000 scholarships to 10 Jackson State University students who have demonstrated scholarship with a 2.75 GPA, and at least 30 hours of public service per semester.  We are proud to make this donation on behalf of the Deltas who are members of 34 chapters across the state of Mississippi," said Denise Griffin-Whittington, president, Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
