DTC Welcomes Its 11th President, Dr. Leonard McIntyrehttp://www.denmarktech.edu/?p=4630

Denmark Technical College is proud to introduce our eleventh (11th) president, Dr. Leonard McIntyre. Dr. McIntyre comes equipped with a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success in leading educational institutions. During his 27 years of leadership experience he has realized an extensive national and international travel portfolio and has directed projects with numerous governments, including those of Mexico, Spain, India, China and Tanzania.

Dr. McIntyre is a native of New Orleans. He received his undergraduate degree in Spanish education from Loyola University and his master's degree from Tulane University in Spanish literature. He earned his doctorate in educational administration from Iowa State University. He has completed post-doctoral training at both Harvard and Columbia Universities. He is also a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership.

Dr. McIntyre has taught at both the high school and college levels. In addition, he served as associate superintendent for instruction and staff development in Spartanburg School District 7, superintendent of schools in Hampton District 2 where he also served as State Deputy Superintendent of Education in South Carolina. His higher education experience includes serving as dean of the college of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences at South Carolina State University, as well as interim president of the university.

He also served as program director for an $18.5 million dollar grant that aided in the development, publication and distribution of Textbooks and other educational materials in the United Republic of Tanzania. Under McIntyre's leadership, more than 3.4 million textbooks and supplementary materials were developed, published and distributed to 2100 secondary schools in mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Dr. McIntyre has high expectations for Denmark Technical College and is looking forward to transforming it into a high quality premier institution of higher learning. "My overarching goal will focus on developing, achieving and maintaining the best programs and services to ensure that each student is afforded the richest educational experiences possible," McIntyre said. "I see a college that engages in continuous improvement through self-assessment, analysis, and inspection so that every program and service goes through a rigorous evaluation in order to identify our strengths and areas for improvement so that we build on those strengths and ameliorate deficiencies.

Please help us in welcoming Dr. McIntyre to Denmark Technical College!
