POSITION TITLE: Access Librarian

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Library Science

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications and Internet searching

  • Ability to work with people of a variety of backgrounds and cultures

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Be physically able to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the job

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public

  • Strong organizational, management and team building skills

  • Ability to multi-task and meet as well as exceed job expectations with limited supervision

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform original or advanced cataloging.

  • Provides reference assistance.

  • Check library materials in and out.

  • Empty book drop

  • Register new library patrons.

  • Collect and record fines.

  • Answer telephone calls.

  • Receives monies for fines and Xerox copies.

  • Repair library materials.

  • Order ILL requests.

  • Put reserves on books that have been requested.

  • Assist in processing new books.

  • Open and close library as needed.

  • Promote library activities.

  • Process paperback and donated materials including stamping, labeling and entering material into computer system.

  • Maintain customer service oriented behavior.

  • Supervise student workers as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION

  • The Assistant Librarian reports directly to the Director of the Learning/Resource Center.

  • Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Jarvis Christian College Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual.

SALARY

  • Commensurate with Credentials and Experience

  • Immediately
