Computer Science and Engineering Students Attend 2018 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers SoutheastCon
A group of faculty and students from the Computer Science and Engineering Department represented Bethune-Cookman University at the 2018 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) SoutheastCon in St. Petersburg, Florida.
IEEE is the largest society for computing and technology professionals. IEEE SoutheastCon is the premier annual conference for the southeastern U.S. region. BCU participated in several activities.
Two B-CU technical papers were presented: "Underwater Acoustic Channel Propagation Module for Simulation of Large-scale Sub-aquatic Internet of Things (IoT) Networks" was presented by Ashim Ghimire, computer engineering major. Ashim's advisor and co-author is Dr. Ahmed Badi. "Design of a Simplified Artificial Neuron (I&F) Model in FPGA" was presented by Dr. Juan Calderon and Dr. Morrison Obeng. Both papers will be published on the IEEE Xplore digital library. Additionally, the BCU student team took part in the robotics competition. The robotics team advisors are Dr. Juan Calderon, Dr. Xiaohe Wu and Dr. Morrison Obeng.
