Oprah Winfrey to Speak at Spelman College's Graduation
By Derrick Bryson Taylor
Graduation season is upon us and colleges and universities are pulling strings to get big names to give their commencement speeches. Oprah Winfrey has accepted the invitation to give Spelman College's 2012 commencement address, reports The Atlantic Journal-Constitution.
The historically Black college's graduation ceremony is set for May 20 at the George International Convention Center. Some 550 students are expected to attend graduation.
The OWN creator is no stranger to Spelman. She received an honorary degree from the college in 1993 and will be given the the National Community Service Award this year.
In other graduation news, Michelle Obama recently announced that she accepted three invitations to speak at graduations around the nation: Virginia Tech, North Carolina A&T and Oregon State University, at which her brother coaches men's basketball.
Congratulations to the 2012 graduates across the nation
