Note: This is a 12-month, staff position.

Responsibilities: The Evening Librarian will be responsible for teaching entry-level information literacy instruction. This person will be responsible for coordinating all information literacy instruction in conjunction with the librarians. This person will serve on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee and work with promoting undergraduate research. The Evening Librarian will work with the librarians in assessing information literacy at JCSU. This person will also assist in providing information literacy instruction to adults and online students. This person will develop online instruction that incorporates the quality online learning and teaching standards. This person will rotate at The Center of Information Desk providing reference services and help with planning workshops and training service to promote library services and the library entrepreneur research hub. This person is required to work Mondays, Wednesdays and rotate on Sundays. The Evening Librarian reports to the Director of Library Services and Curation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Teach information literacy entry-level instruction according to ACRL standards.

Coordinate all information literacy instructions with librarians.  Prepare instructional resources such as LibGuides, tutorials, etc. tailored to undergraduate and graduate students.  Develop an assessment plan in conjunction with the librarians for all information literacy instruction.  Maintain and record all statistics for instructional service activities and reference service activities.  Serve on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee.  Provide Reference services at the Center of Information Desk, one-on-one consultation, and online chat and via email.  Create, design and produce brochures, subject pathfinders/bibliographies, and other publicity guides to promote/market reference services to academic departments and students.  Plan training workshops and services for the Library Entrepreneur Research Hub.  Participate in the collection development process in selecting resources to promote academic programs.  Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments to enhance cooperation and promotion of library services.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with opening and closing of the library when needed.  Assist with acquisitions and recommending instructional resources, equipment, and supplies.  Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:  A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Must demonstrate knowledge of information literacy, learning objects, and assessment methodologies. Prefer someone who has worked in a college environment, has taught online instruction and familiarity with online learning. Prefer someone who has demonstrated project management skills. The successful candidate will be highly skilled with academic library and teaching experience as well as knowledge of curriculum development.  Candidates must demonstrate excellent presentation, customer service, and writing skills. The ideal candidate should be friendly, approachable and public service attitude. The ideal candidate will have technology skills and social media skills. Must be flexible and be able to work well in a collaborative team environment. Entry-Level librarians are welcome to apply. Must be available to work Mondays, Wednesdays and rotate on Sundays.
