Book Signing and Reception for James E. Clyburn

Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina will host a book signing and reception for Congressman James E. Clyburn on Wednesday August 27, 2014 from 6 -8 p.m.  This event will take place at the John Hurst Gynatorium, 1530 Harden Street - Columbia, South Carolina 29206.

James E. Clyburn, author of - Blessed Experiences: Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black with foreword by Alfre Woodard.  The book eloquently presents a compelling memoir of a civil rights leader's journey from the Jim Crow-era South to the Washington beltway.  Come listen to excerpts from his humble beginnings in Sumter, South Carolina, to his prominence on the Washington, D.C., political scene as the third highest-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives, U.S. Congressman.

In Blessed Experiences, Clyburn will share in his own inspirational words how an African American boy from the Jim Crow-era South was able to beat the odds to achieve great success and become, as President Barack Obama describes him, "one of a handful of people who, when they speak, the entire Congress listens."

Please join us for this memorable occasion of James E. Clyburn's extraordinary journey of success.  The event is FREE and open to the public.
