Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration Reaffirms Bob Billingslea School of Hospitality Management Through Winter 2024

The Bob Billingslea School of Hospitality Management received reaffirmation of accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA) through Winter 2024.

"Achieving and maintaining program-specific accreditation requires a dedication to academic excellence and continuous improvement, and provides external validation from experts in the field," said Adrienne T. Cooper, Ph.D., associate provost and chief university research officer.

The accreditation process requires three major efforts: a programmatic self-analysis, an evaluation by professional colleagues and a review and decision by the Commission.

The Bob Billingslea School of Hospitality Management is the only school of hospitality at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the State of Florida that offers an undergraduate degree in Hospitality Management both face-to-face and fully online.

Graduates leave prepared to take on leadership roles in hospitality in a variety of areas including:

  • Events and entertainment and recreation management

  • Lodging operations management, vacation ownership and cruise ship operations

  • Global and sustainable tourism

  • Hospitality entrepreneurship and business ownership

  • Revenue management and hospitality analytics

  • Food service management

  • Conference, meetings, and club management

Hospitality Management students' experiences are enriched through experiential learning, mentorship engagement, active hospitality organizations, annual hospitality industry activities, summer bridge programs, volunteer services, a vibrant advisory board and the ongoing efforts of committed industry partners.

Congratulations to Dr. Deanne Williams-Bryant, Dean & Professor; Dr. Desmond O. Brown, Department Chair & Professor; Dr. Ruth A. Smith, Assistant Professor; Dr. Andrea White-McNeil, Assistant Professor; Arlene Garrick, Program Coordinator/Instructor and Charles Mallory, Instructor/Lab Manager whose dedication to academic excellence and commitment to continuous improvement over the past year and a half are responsible for this important achievement.
