Edward Waters College News June 30, 2015 EWC Nominated for Six 2015 HBCU Awards Edward Waters College (EWC) President Dr. Nathaniel Glover has been selected as a finalist for this year's HBCU Awards, presented by national news website HBCU Digest. The HBCU Awards celebrates the achievements of historically black colleges and universities throughout the United States and is the first and only event to recognize the influence and impact of HBCUs on American culture. For the second straight year, President Nathaniel Glover is one of six nominated for "Best Male HBCU President of the Year." The awards to be presented in Hampton University in Virginia July 10th include five other nominations for Edward Waters College. They are "Best Business Program" (EWC Department of Business Administration), "Best Women's Team of the Year" (EWC Tiger Softball Team), "Best Male Faculty of the Year" (Dr. Brian Seymour and Dr. Prabir Madal) and "HBCU of the Year" (Edward Waters College). According to HBCU Digest, nominees were selected based on their "... impact and achievement in the fields of leadership, arts, athletics, research and community engagement in the previous academic year." The nominations were submitted and reviewed by a host of individuals close to the HBCU community including students, alumni, PR officials and journalists covering historically black colleges and universities. Votes are counted in each category via secret ballot of 13 HBCU presidents and the Center for HBCU Media Advocacy (CHMA) board members. HBCU Digest is billed as the "national news resource of record for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs)." The winners in various categories will be announced at the HBCU Digest's HBCU Awards event set for July 10 at Hampton University in Virginia.
