NCCU Rock the Mic Lecture Series Welcomes Iyanla Vanzant

Author, life coach and television host Iyanla Vanzant will be the guest speaker at North Carolina Central University's (NCCU) Rock the Mic Lecture Series on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. at B.N. Duke Auditorium on the NCCU campus.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Vanzant began her career as an attorney in Philadelphia's public defender's office but found her calling as an inspirational speaker and, later, on the New York Times best seller list. Her first book, Tapping the Power Within: A Path to Self-Empowerment for Black Women, and a second publication, Acts of Faith: Daily Meditations for People of Color, both attracted widespread attention.
She is the host of "Iyanla Vanzant: Fix My Life" on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) channel and is a frequent guest on Oprah's Lifeclass. Vanzant has received numerous awards, including being named one of the "100 Most Influential Black Americans" by Ebony magazine in 2000.
"It is an honor to have such a dynamic speaker on our campus," said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Miron P. Billingsley. "She is sure to be a positive influence and inspiration to all of us."
