North Carolina Central University News September 12, 2017 Annual Ties of Honor Program Offers Tips for Young Men North Carolina Central University's (NCCU) Men's Achievement Center will host its annual Ties of Honor program on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. in the W.G. Pearson Dining Hall. The event is free and open to the public. In its sixth year, the event promotes professional etiquette among male students and includes hands-on demonstrations of five techniques to tie a necktie. Participants will receive new ties. "Our job is to prepare these young men for the future," said Harvey Hinton III, Ph.D., director of NCCU's Men's Achievement Center. "This is an opportunity for our male students to learn how to approach the world with confidence and with professional skills that show they are ready for success." NCCU faculty, staff and community members are asked to donate ties and business attire to the Shepard Closet Initiative - a program that collects new and gently used suits, ties and other professional attire for students.
