ASU Student Lands Coveted Internship at Morgan Stanley
An ASU student has landed a coveted summer internship with financial giant Morgan Stanley, competing with candidates from around the world for the opportunity.

An ASU junior finance major recently accepted an offer to work for one of the top banks in the world, Morgan Stanley, this summer. Montgomery native Shane Parks will travel to New York City to intern as a bank resource management summer analyst. The highly competitive position is a 10-week rotational program that will offer Parks a comprehensive view of Morgan Stanley banking operations.

"It's amazing where life can take you when you give the keys to God," Parks said.

After a successful phone interview with a Morgan Stanley representative, Parks was invited to attend a "Super-day" at the company's corporate headquarters, which was the final round of the interview process. Candidates from across the globe participated in a day of interviews with top banking professionals.

"After competing with candidates from Harvard, Stanford, New York University, Maryland and Scotland, I quickly realized that students from Alabama State can compete with anyone," he said.

Parks credits the ASU family and community with helping him to reach this achievement. Fellow student and Chief Golden Ambassador Rachel Kazungu urged Parks to apply for the position and passed along some very viable information to assist in preparation. In addition, former SGA Treasurer Barry Davis, who successfully completed an internship on Wall Street with RBC Capital Markets, coached Parks over the phone.

"If opportunity doesn't knock then you should build a door. Success only comes when proper preparation meets opportunity," Parks said.
